ANcestral Lineage Healing

Every lineage includes loving and wise ancestors.  Ancestral support amplifies personal vitality and enhances communal well-being.  Cultivating connection with these bright and benevolent ancestors creates ease with living family members and helps clarify one's life-path, relationships and purpose.  This connection can be a great support toward healing trauma as well as anchoring ancestral blessing and gifts.

My practice is in the Ancestral Medicine model of Daniel Foor, with whom I've both taught and trained.  I work with clients from a wide spectrum of ancestry and experiences and have a particular passion for working with those from Jewish backgrounds and with emergent spiritual / community leaders.

Upcoming Group Offerings

Berkeley: February 8-10, 2019 / Co-led with Pavini Moray of Bespoken Bones

Minneapolis: April 12-14, 2019 / Co-lead TBA

Everyone has loving and wise ancestors, and by reaching out for their support we access tremendous vitality for personal and family healing. In addition to supporting repairs with living family, our ancestors encourage healthy self-esteem and help us to clarify our destiny, relationships, and work in the world.

Participants will learn to relate safely and directly with family ancestors, both helpful guides and the dead in need of assistance. The work will closely follow Dr. Foor’s book, Ancestral Medicine: Rituals for Personal and Family Healing. Expect to engage lineage ancestors in heart-centered ritual through prayer/song, visioning practices, and group dialogue. There are no prerequisites, however, prior experience with inner work and relating with spirit guides/teachers are both helpful.

Folks new to ancestor work, adoptees, and those with a tough experience of family are warmly welcome. The training will be a trauma-aware, multicultural ritual container that embraces the relationship of ancestral engagement with cultural healing. Those with a healing arts practice will learn some new skills to support your work. Spaces are limited, 10am-5pm each day, cost is $450 for the three full days of ritual/training (some spaces available for reduced cost/scholarship to keep the work accessible, please inquire directly). Preregistration through Ancestral Medicine is required and full attendance requested.  We acknowledge this event is taking place on the ancestral lands of diverse Ohlone peoples, and we encourage people to become educated on the history and find ways to support contemporary Ohlone causes and organizations.

Jewish Ancestral Healing online IMmersion

The Jewish Ancestral Healing Online course weaves practices of Jewish ancestor reverence with immersive individual Ancestral Lineage Healing sessions. The immersion includes three personal Ancestral Lineage Healing sessions with Taya Mâ or ancestral lineage healing practitioner Yael illah, content material on Jewish ancestor reverence practices delivered in audio and written format, and optional (recorded) monthly group video calls. In our opening call (optional / recorded), we'll review the principles of the Ancestral Lineage Healing model and set clear intentions for the work.  The second two calls (optional / recorded) are check-in and integration calls, space for sharing experiences, questions, receiving feedback and connecting in community. Audio and written content of the course highlights Jewish ancestral reverence practices including working with stones, yahrzeit practices of remembering, the ancestralization practice of reciting Mourner's Kaddish, the practice of pilgrimage known as Hillula, and more.

Amidst the Blessings of Our Ancestors: A Multi-Religious Intensive ~ Starr King School for the Ministry January 22-26, 2019

Multireligious Intensive: Amidst the Blessing of the Ancestors weaves teachings on organic multireligiosity from Ibrahim Baba with practices of ancestor reverence and healing. Organic multiregliosity “interrupts practices of considering religions as monolithic, rigidly-separated traditions in conflict with one another [and] understands them as having complex and constantly-morphing relationships…” (Ibrahim Baba).  This intensive focuses on multireligiosity in personal practice, in spiritual leadership, and toward countering oppression and cultural (mis)appropriation.  This course combines conceptual exploration and embodied practice with tending work in ancestral lineage ritual and repair.

Every lineage includes loving and wise ancestors. Connect with yours as a source of blessing, support and healing. This daylong workshop in ancestral lineage healing encourages relating safely and directly with blood & family lineage ancestors, cultivates connection with helpful guides, and creates boundaries and support for troubled dead in need of assistance. Together we’ll engage lineage ancestors in heart-centered ritual space through learning, experiential practice and group dialogue.

All are welcome, including folks new to ancestor work, those without much information about their blood lineages, and those with a challenging experience of family. There are no pre-requisites for this workshop, though prior experience with inner work and spiritual practice is helpful. Cost is $125 for the day. Please inquire directly about financial aid if cost is an obstacle; we are committed to keeping this work financially accessible.
